International Internship Opportunities for Veterinary Science Students
Bangladesh has witnessed a significant development in the field of veterinary science, as fifty students from the 59th batch of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have successfully secured internship placements in six countries across Asia and Europe. This achievement marks a milestone in the university\’s efforts to provide its students with global exposure and practical training.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the faculty\’s 22nd internship program, which took place on Friday at the Syed Nazrul Islam Auditorium on the BAU campus. The event brought together students, faculty members, and industry professionals, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in veterinary education.
According to the faculty, the students will be distributed across various countries. Specifically, 33 students will travel to Thailand, while 10 will go to Malaysia. Two students will be placed in Japan, three in Indonesia, and one each in Germany and Nepal. The remaining students will complete their internships at 12 different locations within Bangladesh, ensuring that all participants gain valuable experience.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests. BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan served as the chief guest, while Mr. Jayanta Dutta Gupta, General Manager of Square Pharmaceuticals\’ Agrovet and Crop Care Division, was present as the special guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, chaired the ceremony.
Prof. Bhuiyan addressed the students, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with representing BAU abroad. He said, \”When you go abroad, you carry the name of BAU with you. Behave responsibly and uphold the university\’s reputation.\” His words underscored the importance of maintaining the university\’s standards and values wherever the students may be.
In addition to the international placements, the internship program offers students hands-on exposure in real-world settings. This year, a total of 193 students from the faculty will join internships at 12 local and international institutions. This initiative not only enhances the students\’ academic experience but also prepares them for future careers in the veterinary sector.
